Meet Heather
Member since 1994
Heather joined Education First in 1994 as a college student at Otterbein University.
Prompted by her mom, who was a secretary at Columbus City Schools and had been a member of the Credit Union for many years, Heather decided Education First was the best option for her as well.
“My mom loved being a member of Education First,” says Heather. “She told me about all the benefits of joining a credit union. I remember her saying how everything was so much nicer than at a bank.”
A Columbus native, Heather attended Columbus City Schools herself. “I went to Brookhaven High School, Go Bearcats!” she says. Today, Heather teaches first grade for the district at Indian Springs Elementary.
She often suggests joining Education First to her co-workers and family members.
“I always tell people that I love my Credit Union,” says Heather, whose husband and son are now also members.
“I helped my son become a member,” says Heather. “He loves that he can have a checking account with very little fees as he is starting out. I love that it is easy for me to help him to become financially responsible.”
She says one thing she appreciates about Education First is the since of community and belonging that she experiences at the Credit Union.
“I love the feeling of belonging at the Credit Union,” says Heather. “I also love the way I am treated by the people at [Education First]. I don’t feel like just another number.”
Heather says that she really appreciates that the Credit Union offers everything that the larger banks do, but with less fees and better rates. “I feel like they are always looking for the best products to offer members, while keeping our cost at a minimum.”
